After much use, the battery capacity will be diminished. Fully charging the ReadySet frequently will increase the lifetime of the battery.
In Uganda, Fenix Authorized Service Centers can replace the battery for you (there will be a fee if your ReadySet is out of warranty).
In the US/Canada, Fenix can provide replacement battery service for a fee. Contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via this website if you would like to request an estimate.
If you are a US/Canadian customer and have a ReadySet that is behaving normally, but has diminished battery life, you can also replace the battery yourself.
Note - if the ReadySet is no longer turning on, it is possible that the circuit board is damaged. In this case, there is a chance that replacing the battery will not be sufficient to repair the Readyset. In that instance, Fenix would need to do the repair.
To replace the battery yourself, you will need to find a 12V Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery with the following dimensions:
H: 94.5 (or 100 with the tabs)
Something like the following:
To replace the battery:
1) Flip the ReadySet upside down and remove the 8 screws that hold the ReadySet Top in place. You will need a phillips (+ type) screwdriver for this.
2) Flip the ReadySet back upright and position it so that the front is facing towards you. Lift the Red top of the Readyset up and towards you.
3) Remove the red and black wires/connectors from the battery terminals and pull out the battery.
4) Replace the battery & reattach the connectors.
Once connected, press the button on the ReadySet and confirm that it turns on. Place the battery into its compartment in the ReadySet, adjust the long wires so that they run along the right side of the battery, and between the battery and the screw post (see attachment). Reseat the Red top & screw the ReadySet back together. Press the button & the ReadySet should turn back on and be ready for use.
SLA batteries are recyclable and should be taken in for recycling.
